Instrument Panel Construction

The project is back underway now and we started 06' with some work on the console. It is pretty basic, 1 piece of luon (sp?) that we cut to fit over top of the original console section and throttle cutout. We braced that with a 1 x, and cut it at a generous angle in order to slope the panel.
We layered 6 strips of tape across the panel (3 in each direction) and put some cab in the seams to cheat on the transitions. We also had to make some plugs for the old steering wheel cutout and tilt/trim and ignition cutouts. After a solid hour and half of sanding this evening I am thinking that a vacuum bagging setup would have been a worthwile investment...oh well. Next trip I will snap a few of the sanded product, we are planning on reapplying some additional glass in order to stiffen the panel a little more.

we had some left over cab and epoxy mixed up so we put a few tabs on the gunnel/sidewall supports:
