Patching the transom

We have started stripping the bottom paint (4 layers thick) and sanding the old gel coat off the formula. The bracket has been ordered and should be here in the next week or so.

We have also started laying glass again, and have concentrated on finishing up the bulkheads and patching the old bolt holes in the transom (we drilled to cinch the transom plugs in). We have ground around those holes and removed a couple of old "patches" that were made up of caulk, or bondo or something other than fiberglass that was very brittle. We had to grind through the transom in a couple of spots in order to completely remove the material. We also added the final piece of the transom plug (the outdrive hole). Here are the pics:

WOW, you are getting plenty of fiberglass repair experience. Hope those fumes don't kill all your brain cells!!
